Rosso di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne 2020
£95 per 6 x 75cl UB (£130 incl. VAT)

92 points - Eric Guido (Vinous.com)
The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is dark yet perfumed, with lavender and violet tones giving way to masses of ripe plum and cherry. Balsam herbs and hints of chalk develop with time in the glass, adding further depths. This is silky and round, with juicy acidity enlivening its ripe red and hints of blue fruit. Sweet spices, hints of cocoa and licorice linger, as the 2020 tapers off long with just a hint of fine tannin. This showboat of a Rosso is going to win a lot of hearts.

Chianti Classico Riserva 2019

93 points - Antonio Galloni (Vinous.com)
The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is rich, layered and exceptionally polished. This is an especially serious vintage for the Marchese Antinori. All of the fruit comes from the Antinori family's Tignanello estate. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red cherry/plum, spice, leather and tobacco. There's tremendous weight, power and depth, that much is pretty clear.

High alcohol! (15%) But it's remarkably well hidden with freshness being the overriding characteristic of this wine. Very much a Sangiovese with real grip and no shortage of vibrant fruit. Clean finish. Quite remarkable!

The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Badia a Passignano is creamy and sensual from start to finish. In 2018, the Badia shows its typically dark profile but with less heaviness than has been present in some previous vintages. Silky and supple, the 2018 has a ton to offer.

The vineyards of Badia a Passignano surround an ancient monastery which has belonged to Benedictine monks since the 11th century. It’s just 3km south of Antinori’s Tignanello estate, from which the Sangiovese cuttings hail. Youthful, graceful and unencumbered by masses of oak, this expresses pretty floral, red cherry and cedar. Smooth yet tactile, the tannins are sleek and yielding, and succulent acidity contributes to the levity and clarity of this mid-weight, elegant Gran Selezione. Glossy red berries are infused with sage on the palate. Everything is in place - almost too perfectly.
Drink 2022 - 2032
