Southern Rhone
The Southern Rhone could not be more opposite to the North in terms of grape varieties. Whereas the North excels in single varietal wines, the south is a region known for it's incredible blends. Chateauneuf‑du‑Pape is king here with all 17 of its permitted varieties, it also commands the greatest price. There is also great value to be found in the lesser villages in the south. The wines from Gigondas, Vinsobres & Vacqueyras offer Grenache dominated wines that give earlier drinking windows at great prices.
