The 2020 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Blanc has plenty of vigour on the nose with red apples and kiwi fruit, well-defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine spine of acidity, lightly spiced with a tangy finish. Fine.

The 2020 Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc is raised for eight months in barrel (with 20% new oak from the Raymond cooperage). This is taut and crisp on the nose with light kumquat and honeysuckle scents, the oak neatly integrated. The palate is well balanced with tropical tones, passion fruit and pineapple chunks, a hint of spice towards the slightly resinous finish. Very fine.

Julia Harding (Jancis) - 16.5 points
Cedary citrus freshness, fruit-focused unlike the oaky Antoine Jobard and Henri Gouges Bourgognes just tasted. Focused, crisp and very direct. Not (yet) complex but has real intensity on the palate and good length. (JH)

Ripe and invitingly creamy on the nose. A touch of clementine. Good balance between the ripeness of fruit and the mouth-watering citrus. Tight and bright and zippy. (JH)
