Exceptional value, superb quality, family owned - a brilliant Champagne house.

Prestige Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs

Delicious, brilliantly crafted and fantastic value for money - you really need to give this Champagne a try. It's made using a perpetual reserve system, which is not too far removed from the Solera system used in Sherry. 68% of this release of Prestige is from the 2018 vintage, 23% is from 2017 and 14% is from the perpetual reserve which is aged in a rather large oak barrel containing vintages from 2009 to 2017. Each year, a portion of the perpetual reserve is taken from the barrel, which is then topped up by the latest vintage. This allows for a great deal of complexity in the final wine, with great texture and intensity.

This beautiful champagne is made of a blend of three Grand Cru vineyards: Le Mesnil sur Oger which offers sharp, fresh and elegant, Cramant which offers racy minerality, crisp acidity and a slight creaminess and Chouilly which is more fruity, with stonefruit notes.

The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Prestige was picked in Cramant, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, 68% is from the 2018 vintage, 23% from 2017 and 14% is from a perpetual reserve aged in large oak containing vintages from 2017 to 2009. Creamy polenta and chalk notes on the nose are subtle. Sprightly and still strident, fine mousse suggests that this will take kindly to another year of bottle age, but the bright palate with its freshness and chalky depth shows how well the warmer 2018 vintage was managed here. Subtle roundness is provided by unobtrusive oak, gentle creaminess and ripe lemon, yet the essential svelteness and chalkiness make this a treat. Balanced, salty and bright with umami on the finish. Dosage is 4gr/L.

Will (Seckford Wines)An absolute favourite of mine. On the nose this is fresh, with bruised apple skins, lemon curd, pear, honeysuckle and a touch of buttery pastry and brioche. On the palate it's strikingly elegant and precise, with mineral precision, a wonderfully fine mousse and floral notes. There's depth with layers of orchard fruits and creamy citrus, moving into ripe lemon curd and brioche which gives a lovely roundness and richness to the midpalate. The finish on this is long, minerally, precise and a bit spicy, with hints of white flowers and honeysuckle - lovely!

The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs is mostly based on 2020 along with some 2019, picked in Chouilly, Cuis and Epernay. An immediate hit of saltiness on the nose announces that this is not about fruit but soil. Fine mousse and bright slenderness immediately spell elegance and verve. Concentration on the mid-palate, despite the svelte body, brings salty depth and a touch of blond baguette crust. Freshness, verve and elegance make this a quintessential, taut blanc de blancs. It's apero or oysters, you decide. Dosage is 3gr/L.

Will (Seckford Wines)Bright, elegant and wonderfully refreshing - this is superb stuff. The nose is zesty and bursting with lemon, crunchy green apple and chalky minerality, with a touch of almond and doughy fresh bread in the background. It’s crisp and racy on the palate, with really fine bubbles and a lovely clean line of citrus and white stone fruit. There’s a hint of salinity too, which adds to that mouthwatering freshness. Super dry in style, beautifully balanced, and with a soft, creamy edge that gives it charm and finesse. This is just brilliant value and a very well made Champagne!
