First Growths
The First Growths of Bordeaux, or Premiers Crus, represent the highest standard in Bordeaux. Officially designated in the 1855 Classification by Napoleon III for the Exposition Universelle, these châteaux—primarily from the Médoc (with one from Graves)—had long been esteemed by merchants and connoisseurs. The five First Growths are Château Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and Mouton Rothschild. Renowned for their consistent quality and unique terroirs, these estates symbolise tradition, excellence, and the artistry of Bordeaux winemaking.
