Tasting Notes

91-93
Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Sep 03
(also fined recently) Rich aromas of lemon, vanilla and grilled nuts. Fat and full, with excellent fruit and thrust. But this large-scaled wine is still a bit tight from the fining and not yet expressing itself. Slightly warm today on the back end. Lafon opened a bottle of the 2000 for purposes of comparison and I gave it a slight edge for its greater focus and sheer suavity; the earlier vintage merited a 93 rating.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
