The 2007 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is a supremely gifted wine. It exudes life-affirming mineralité on a nose of powdered limestone mixed with hazelnut and a subtle fumé tincture. As I discerned before, there is a Puligny-like tension to this Perrières, and it has retained its pithy, weighty and satisfying finish. It is drinking beautifully now, but it unequivocally has a long life ahead of it. Tasted at a private dinner in Burgundy.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
