Vinous Josh Raynolds - 01 Jan 10
Vivid ruby. Powerful, ripe scents of red and dark berry compote, cola, licorice and fruitcake. Broad, sweet dark berry flavors show a distinctly warm, liqueur-like personality but betray no rough edges. This has put on considerable weight since last year and displays the warm side of this vintage. The finish is creamy, sweet and very long, with echoes of cassis and mulberry. For its size and volume I find it surprisingly lively.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a prestigious appellation in France's Southern Rhône Valley, is famous for its rich, complex red wines. These full-bodied wines primarily feature Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, with bold flavours of dark fruit, spices, and earthy undertones, often with a peppery note and velvety texture. The region's unique terroir, marked by large round stones and diverse soils, adds depth to its wines. Top producers include Domaine du Pegau, Château de Beaucastel, and Domaine Janasse, all celebrated for showcasing Châteauneuf-du-Pape's distinctive character.
