Vinous Nicolas Greinacher - 01 Nov 25
The inaugural 2010 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Amiral G contains attention-grabbing forest floor, melted licorice, tobacco and dried strawberry on the nuanced aromatic profile. Gently formed by ripe tannins, this full-throttle 2010 delivers a rich and juicy yet totally smooth and refreshing mouthfeel. Although markedly concentrated, it doesn’t go overboard. Closing with resilience on the savory finale, I recommend approaching this radiant beauty no earlier than 2026.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vineyard Fine Wine

Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a prestigious appellation in France's Southern Rhône Valley, is famous for its rich, complex red wines. These full-bodied wines primarily feature Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, with bold flavours of dark fruit, spices, and earthy undertones, often with a peppery note and velvety texture. The region's unique terroir, marked by large round stones and diverse soils, adds depth to its wines. Top producers include Domaine du Pegau, Château de Beaucastel, and Domaine Janasse, all celebrated for showcasing Châteauneuf-du-Pape's distinctive character.
