Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Sep 10
Pale bright yellow. Reticent but pure aromas of spices, minerals and white flowers, plus a whiff of redcurrant. Smooth and broad but tight, opening only grudgingly to show aromatic notes of violet, lavender, yellow rose and spices. This stony, solidly built wine is less refined and sexy today than the Caillerets but has a strong acid/mineral structure for aging.

Chassagne-Montrachet

Chassagne-Montrachet, a prestigious Burgundy appellation in Côte de Beaune, is famed for both white and red wines. Its Chardonnay wines are renowned for richness, complexity, and balance, featuring ripe stone fruits, citrus, nuts, and minerality. Top white wines come from Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru vineyards. The Pinot Noir reds are structured and elegant, with red berries, spice, and earthy notes. Notable producers include Domaine Leflaive, Domaine Ramonet, and Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard, all celebrated for expressing the terroir's unique character.
