Tasting Notes

Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Sep 23
Tasted numerous times, the 1985 Château Margaux probably doesn't deserve to follow the 1982 and 1983 and should be considered in its own right. Sensual and pure on the nose, this offers gorgeous, pixelated red fruit blossoming in the glass with inkwell and violet hints. The palate is lace-like, refined and embroidered with a very fine thread of acidity. Almost straight-laced in the beginning, there is a peacock's tail on the finish that leaves you with a stupid grin on your face. Tasted at Medlar restaurant dinner celebrating the release of "The Complete Bordeaux".

Margaux

Margaux, in Bordeaux, France, is renowned for producing some of the world’s most elegant red wines. Margaux wines are characterised by floral notes of violet and rose, red and black fruits like cherry and blackcurrant, refined tannins, a silky texture, and a complex, long finish. The region's gravelly soil enhances grape concentration. Top producers include Château Margaux, known for its finesse and ageing potential; Château Palmer, recognized for its rich, aromatic wines; and Château Rauzan-Ségla, celebrated for its elegant precision.
