Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Oct 21
The 2017 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is dominated by searing tannins that are hard to get past. Dried cherry, leather, tobacco and dried herbs struggle to emerge. It will be interesting to see if the Ravera comes together in bottle. I think it will, but there is no denying the wine is completely unapproachable today.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
