Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Dec 20
The 2019 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is matured with 50% new oak and 100% whole bunch, the pruning having changed from cordon to Guyot simple in 2018. It has a lovely bouquet of orange-peel- and marmalade-infused red berry fruit, fine mineralité and wonderful definition. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Quite savory in style, leading to a slightly austere finish that should gain a little more flesh with bottle age. This is a classy offering that will need 4–5 years to show its full potential.
