Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Feb 10
The 2006 Barolo Vecchia Vigna delle Brunate takes things to another level entirely with an intricate fabric of dark fruit, plums, prunes, roasted coffee beans, menthol and minerals that comes to life on a firm, sturdy frame. The wine reveals superb intensity, inner perfume and a long, exceptionally refined finish. The Brunate Vecchia Vigna delle Brunate is Marengo's most extroverted Barolo and in 2006 it is nothing short of superb.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
