Tasting Notes

Vinous Joel Payne - 01 Jan 07
(for 375 ml.; auction wine) Rich gold. Rich, smoky aromas of dried apricot, baked apple and honey, with pungent noble rot notes of brown spice thrown in for good measure. The palate shows lusciously sweet papaya flavor and honeyed texture, but also good underlying minerality and understated acidity.Perhaps more opulent than elegant, but this goes on and on on the aftertaste. A great beerenauslese, but it pales next to the long gold capsule auslese
