Vinous Neal Martin - 25 Mar 25
The 1997 Le Pin has a pleasurable, well-defined raspberry-, wild strawberry- and cranberry-scented nose. It is conservative and straight-laced. The palate is quite chewy on the entry though there is good acidity. Relatively simple compared to other vintages, there are notes of black cherries, redcurrants, tobacco and dried herbs, but it lacks tension and poise. This is a monochromatic Le Pin that engenders feelings of indifference. It is a Pomerol with just a single emotion; this does not and has no desire to take you, the taster, anywhere of interest. There were 567 cases produced. Tasted at Bipin Desai’s Le Pin vertical in Los Angeles in November 2008. Tasting note taken from the Pomerol book by Neal Martin.
