Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Dec 20
The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru for the second year running has no new oak. It has a beautifully defined bouquet with citrus peel, Clementine, lemon verbena and light limestone aromas. This is wonderfully focused and intense. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry, taut and crisp with a flinty opening, then slams down the shutters towards the finish as if to say, how rude it is to be assessed at this stage (fair enough). So give this 5-6 years in bottle because there's a killer wine waiting for you.
