Tasting Notes

Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Oct 20
The 2017 Barbaresco Montestefano opens with scents of cherry, lavender and rose petal. It offers lovely depth in the mid-weight style that is typical of many wines in this vintage, along with a slightly candied profile and a bit of reduction, just as in the straight Barbaresco.

Barbaresco

Barbaresco, a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known as the “Queen” of Piedmont wines, it offers elegance and aromatic complexity with flavours of red cherries, raspberries, roses, and earthy notes. Its well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity enhance its ageing potential. With calcareous soils and favourable microclimates, Barbaresco is a more approachable alternative to Barolo. Top producers include Gaja, Produttori del Barbaresco, Bruno Giacosa, and Pio Cesare, who exemplify its refined character.
