Italy
Italy, the home to Barolo, Barbaresco, Chianti, Brunello & more recently the rise of the Super Tuscans - Bordeaux blends from in and around Bolgheri. A plethora of grape varieties are grown in Italy, but many fly under the radar and the great varieties of Sangiovese and Nebbiolo make the great fine wines from Italy. A new generation of growers are making fine wines that rival those from across the border in France, experimenting with single vineyard expressions and cuvees are attracting collectors to this brilliantly vinous country that has something for every palate. Deep rich savoury wines from Barolo and it’s slightly fresher neighbour in Barbaresco the wonderfully sunny wines of Tuscany where Sangiovese is the main component.
