The 2023 Chablis Beauroy 1er Cru has a simple and slightly smudged bouquet. The palate is quite forward and satisfyingly fresh on the entry, better defined than the nose, but it can't shake off the fact that it lacks a bit of nerve and complexity. This seems to have lost its raciness and tension during the summer's warmth. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Chablis

Chablis, the northernmost Burgundy region, is famed for its crisp, mineral-driven Chardonnay wines. Unlike rich, oaky Chardonnays, Chablis wines, influenced by the cool climate and limestone-rich soils, feature vibrant acidity and flavours of green apple, citrus, and flint. Ideal with seafood, especially oysters, Chablis wines come in four appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. Esteemed producers like Domaine William Fèvre, François Raveneau, and Vincent Dauvissat are known for their classic, terroir-expressive wines.
