Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Jan 22
The 2017 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru has a generous, delineated bouquet of dark cherries, mulberry and light wild heather scents, opening nicely in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant, delivering plenty of concentration. Very Volnay-like, with a pure, grippy finish, and quite modern in style; nevertheless, this has great potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
