Vinous Neal Martin - 12 Dec 23
The 2019 Meursault Clos de Bouchère 1er Cru fomented much controversy about whether it showed signs of TCA. The bottle was rejected during the blind tasting due to a minor trait. It was returned to the bottle and re-poured later, by which time it was felt that the TCA was no longer evident. The 2019 shows fragrant white flowers, white peach and orange pith scents with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly rounded texture, a fine bead of acidity, fresh with a gentle grip and a caressing finish. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
