Vinous Neal Martin - 30 Oct 24
The 2020 Pommard Les Rugiens-Bas 1er Cru has an open-knit nose with more red than black fruit, unlike its peers, though it feels a little mature for its youthful age. A little rooibos and bay leaf appear. The palate has a soft entry of fleshy red fruit. It's a bit oaky and forward, missing a little freshness and certainly substance on the finish. This is more slender than it seemed a couple of years ago, yet still an attractive proposition. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
