The 2022 Riesling Bockenauer Felseneck Spätlese Goldkapsel is always from the poor, rocky parcels of the Felseneck. "For us, Goldkapsel always signifies the most filigree Spätlesen," says Tim Fröhlich. “When we decide what Goldkapsel is, it is the finest, not the most powerful." This is amply evident in the finely chiseled nose with a touch of tangerine on its lemony brightness and floral yet stony charm. The palate is not outright sweet but thrilling. All the sweetness is wrapped in a lemon-focused package that drives forward with brightness, tautness and drive. Absolutely no botrytis means vividly pristine, ethereal flavors. This is mouth-watering, balanced and thrilling to the end. The 2022 is poised and elegant. (Medium)
