The 2017 Fixin Village has a straightforward bouquet of rather earthy black fruit that needs a little more lift. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, bright red fruit and a nicely detailed finish. It’s one of those wines that gets better as it goes along. Maybe that upswing will continue in bottle.
