The Wine Independent Susan Hulme - 13 Jul 22
The 2018 Paolo Scavino Cannubi has sweetly fragrant aromas of wildflowers and wild herbs. The oak is very well integrated into the soft, round, body of the wine which has very fine, sandy-textured tannins and lots of juicy freshness on the finish. This is another very beautiful expression of the Cannubi vineyard. It is harmonious with a warm, friendly character. Depending on how you like to drink your wines, keep for one year at least and drink for up to 25.

The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is attractive and also rather understated in this vintage. Crushed flowers, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, mint and dark cherry are nicely lifted. The Cannubi is quite pretty, but also a touch on the ethereal side, as many Barolos are in 2018.

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
