Benjamin first came to the attention of the wine world as régisseur at Domaine Comte Armand in Pommard. Under his stewardship the wines of the domaine grew greatly in quality from rather old-fashioned Burgundy to wines that had extraordinary purity, structure & an overriding sense of joy! Tasted many times, they never failed to impress.
In 2007 Ben set up his own 'micro-negociant' under his own name, Benjamin Leroux. Starting with modest holdings (mainly from the Cote de Beaune) in a very short space of time he had grown his range to include some of the great sites of Burgundy. He is a stickler for detail and much work is done in the vineyard alongside the owners - this ensures the very best fruit makes it into his cellar in Beaune. He is a master at combining purity of fruit (which makes the wines so pretty from barrel) with a firm backbone of structure that alludes to a long life span.
Ben is a big fan of bottling some of his wines in magnums only which he believes is a brilliant way to cellar great Burgundy, giving them a real sense of theatre – and who are we to argue!
We are delighted to offer a collection of Ben's wines. All lying Under Bond in the Seckford cellars. Particular praise has to be attributed to the 2009s and 2010s on show. This was a real watershed time for Ben, they are simply sensational.

92-94 Points (Burghound)
A subtle application of wood sets off the layered and appealing aromas of plum, cassis, red currant liqueur and plenty of floral nuances. There is really lovely detail to the intense big-bodied flavors that possess that highly attractive sense of underlying tension that continues onto the stony and palate coating finish thanks to the abundant amounts of dry extract. This is very much built for the long-term and with the larger format bottle this is going to require patience. Note that my suggested drinking window takes into account the magnum format.
