Seckford is delighted to offer the 2019 Sancerre vintage release from Domaine François Cotat
François believes that the 2019s are likely to be more long-lived than their immediate predecessors. Stylistically there are similarities with 2018; perhaps slightly drier wines with a little more tension & acidity.
Caillottes 2019
£126 per 6ib
Producer's Note
François’ young vine cuvée is planted on poor soils partly on the flat and partly on quite a steep slope. The wine measures 13.2 degrees alcohol and less than 1g/L residual sugar.
A juicy wine with lovely richness and is middle-weight without being heavy. This is a parcel which keeps improving as the vines age. Very reminiscent of lemon balm & verbena, and approachable already.
Les Monts Damnés 2019
£168 per 6ib
Producer's Note
This wine sits at 13.7 degrees of alcohol and less than 1g/L residual sugar.
There is at once greater power & freshness here and consequently the higher alcohol is carried effortlessly, with only the touches of honey on the nose offering a hint of greater ripeness.
Tight & with a reductive character that points to greater ageing potential, this is wonderfully mineral & pure. Outstanding.
Les Culs de Beaujeu 2019
£180 per 6ib
Producer's Note
The wine comes in at 13.3 degrees of alcohol with 2g/L residual sugar.
Richer, more powerful but also with greater acid freshness. A bit closed today but great potential.
The acid is certainly more evident, providing a stronger skeleton over which sits supple, stone-fruited flesh. A pleasing menthol character extends the finish.
