Delivery Instructions

Should you wish to take delivery of any wines before the seasonal rush (and pre-empting the New Year rental charge, which is only applicable should you have any wines lying in Seckford Storage on 31st December 2021 - noting that any wines purchased lying ex-producer would also show in your Portfolio, but these would be exempt from rental until the wine is received into Seckford Storage) please advise Seckford in writing:

by Monday 29th November

for December delivery arrangements within mainland UK (other destinations are subject to your shipper's arrangements). Due to the increased use of national mail-order we anticipate that all couriers will be busier than usual during November & December. For this reason we have brought forward the cut-off date. Therefore it is advisable for us to have your request as soon as possible; and for you to take delivery at the earliest opportunity and not to leave it late.

However, we would strongly encourage a November delivery, so that all your deadline panic & stress is removed. When busy, the couriers will not be able to guarantee a next day service. and therefore a specific date cannot be agreed.

Meanwhile, Seckford's vans will continue their delivery schedule until Friday 17th December, with revisions likely for the final weeks. Deliveries to other UK Bonds will be curtailed as instructed by them; re-commencing in January.

by Friday 17th December

for customers wishing to withdraw stock from Storage before the 2022 charging period begins on 1st January, but can postpone delivery until the New Year. Please be advised that credits for storage will not be issued; therefore please make certain we have your instructions by 17th December; and/or advise us of any wines that you wish to list for sale.

We would recommend that you access "My Portfolio" today to check your stock-holding. Wines for orders already awaiting delivery instructions will not be included in your Portfolio. If these instructions are not forthcoming, then these wines will be placed into Storage and they will be subject to rental charges.

£9.54 per 12x75cl per annum

There is still no charge for receiving stock from 3rd party cellars. Market Update

The fine wine market has continued its upward trend in 2021, with the top wines of Bordeaux reaching the peak levels of 2011. Prices have remained robust amid these turbulent times and many have never been higher.

Our biggest seller by value continues to be Burgundy, with record-level prices nudging higher still; demand remains high for those Cote d’Or gems in short supply.

Italy and Spain are areas of continued growth, along with Champagne and the Northern Rhone. 10 years ago, the market share was dominated by Bordeaux, with approximately 90%, but its market share is now half this.

The graph, shown below, from our global marketplace partner, Liv-ex, is enlightening:

The Liv-ex 1000 is the broadest measure of the fine wine market, tracking wines from Bordeaux to Australia, bears witness to the huge shift in buying patterns over the last 10 years.

As collectors began to switch first to Burgundy, then Champagne and more recently to Italian, Californian and Rhône labels, so the market swelled and this index rose.

It currently sits at an all-time high.

There’s certainly demand out there from our customers, if wines are priced correctly. Whether you’re looking to buy, store or sell, please get in touch to discuss the opportunities & possibilities.
