The 2018 Virginie de Valandraud has a deep garnet-purple color. It has a powerful nose of cassis, stewed plums, and black cherries, with hints of wild sage, tilled soil, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has firm and rounded tannins, with nice freshness and a fruity finish.

The 2018 Virginie de Valandraud has a beautiful bouquet of very pure blackberry, raspberry and rose petal scents, very nuanced in style with neatly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, revealing touches of spicebox and dark chocolate on the entry before segueing into quite a structured middle and finish. Very focused and poised. This is a lovely, Virginie de Valandraud.

Bordeaux

Red Bordeaux, globally renowned, is crafted in France’s Bordeaux region from grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. These full-bodied wines feature dark fruit flavours, earthy and spicy notes, and often benefit from ageing. Top producers include Château Margaux, Château Latour, and Château Lafite Rothschild. White Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, offers styles from crisp to rich, with citrus and tropical notes. Sweet Bordeaux wines, like Sauternes, are famed for their rich sweetness and flavours of apricot and honey, with Château d’Yquem as a leading producer.
